Santa’s Spit

Listening to the kids rehearse the Polar Express movie today, one would thing that the Hot Chocolate
song has this line:

“Santa spit it in the pot”

when the lyrics are actually:

“Keep it cookin in the pot”

Well, it’s hard not to stop laughing at this one.

Christmas Pictures

Well, another year is over with. I haven’t blogged in quite a while, but I did put up new pictures of Christmas this year. We had the Bindas and D’Angelos over the weekend before Christmas weekend, then we visited my sister’s condo on Christmas Day. So, these pictures span a week.

Holiday Wish Lists

Here are some wish lists for the family. Hopefully, this will make holiday shopping a bit easier. In the meantime, I’ll look at adding these as a list in the left-hand nav panel.

Laundry Day

Hi everyone. Today is laundry day. Not very exciting, but it is. I’ve decided since greg hasn’t posted in almost 2 months, i would give it a shot. So life is pretty much like this . . . . Laundry, Thomas the Train, maccaroni and cheese, legos, nap time, Bj’s. Yep, that’s today.

I am glad we don’t have a crazy day today. We were out first thing in the morning Mon and Tues with MOMs Club stuff and gymnastic school (which peter absolutely loves!). Yesterday we brought 2 dozen Krispy Kreme donuts to greg’s office. I guess they were popular because greg said there was only 1/2 donut left at the end of the work day.

I am sure that heading to BJ’s will be a big event – there’s the indoor street cleaner and peter gets to eat a lollipop everytime we go. Lex likes to sit in the cart and try to grab peter’s lollipop – so that’s always fun. We are going to buy the huge box of leggo waffles again. We managed to consume 60 waffles in a 10 day time period. Life is good!

Greg would probably appreciate it if i discussed current affairs a bit. Well, we watched the second half of the State of the Union yesterday, and I liked it. I really think GWB pulled it off. I was impressed with his analogies about events in the past and Iraq today. Good job. I just couldn’t understand how the mom and dad of the Marine who died at Falujah could keep it together. I would have been crying so hard if that was me – don’t think i would have been able to stand up.

Well, it’s my turn to put up my feet and nap. I get to go to the movies tonight with amy and lynn. We are finally getting to see Spanglish! It’s at the discount theatre with the pub, so that should be fun.

Lex is Almost Walking

Lex is almost walking! Just yesterday, he took about three or four steps to get from me to a small kid’s table. He’s been standing for quite some time now, taking one step and then sitting down, but over the turkey day weekend, he started to take multiple steps before falling down. He’ll be 11 months on Saturday, so we’ll see if he hits that milestone by then.

Thirsty

So, this is my step-brother Billy in his band, Thirsty. For my regular readers who do not know him, he’s a fantastically talented guitarist and musician. He has a great discography that I’ll have to chronicle at some point. I have lots of his older stuff, even some old Seka stuff.

New format

Stephanie’s been asking to have the pictures more prominently displayed on the site’s home page. So, with a little help from David Raynes’ Multiblog, I was able to pull in the latest 5 pictures into an inset on the page. I may play with the layout a bit to see how it looks, but I think it meets the number 1 criteria ;-)

Alexander Pics

Here are a few more pics that Alex’s aunt Lauren sent me. My digital camera has been quite flaky lately, so no newer pics. These are all from Sunday, 1/04/04. We’ve been getting along well over the past week and a half, despite my back going out and Stephanie’s recovering. Our families have been great! Steph’s parents took Peter for two weekends, my family has been over to visit and help, Patty came over and spent an hour doing house cleaning for us! That was amazing. All of the mom’s in Steph’s play group and mom’s club have been sending us ready-made meals. Steph’s mom made some as well, so we’re eating quite well, which is quite a blessing given the time and energy it takes to keep the boys clean and well-fed.

Alexander

Alex is a real sleepyhead! He’s only awake for a couple hours a day. With Peter, that only lasted a couple days. It’s now a week and a day, and Alex is still out most of the time. So far, he’s only up for one or two hours each night. I think we got lucky this time!

Greg, Stephanie, and Alex

Here’s me, Alex’s mum, and, of course, Alex, recovering from his birth. It went relatively well, and the whole event took only six hours, from leaving the house, to giving birth.

Nana, Lauren, and Alex

Alex’s proud grandmother, Judy, his aunt Lauren, and himself. His aunt Erin was with them, but my digital flaked out and I think I lost them. We have some black and whites to send to the developer.

Alexander

Welcome! Alexander Gregory Rushton was born yesterday, Jan 4, 2004, at 12:04 in the afternoon. He’s a healthy, sleepy, 8 lb. 2 oz. boy with his brother’s nose, a mix of brown and blond hair, good all-around chubbiness and very pink skin! I got the chance to cut the cord this time since his birth went mostly by the numbers, except for being 12 days late. Mom’s doing great, she was a real trooper and came through with flying colors.

At the time of this post, I’m using a public computer at Newton Wellesley Hospital

. I’ll have some pictures and perhaps a video tomorrow. His auntie Lauren took some pictures and video with a new camera she has, so that will be fun get working. For the MT geeks out there, I just found out my server has ImageMagick murder by decree free download , so I can do some nice thumbnails. We’ll see how that goes when I get some sleep and can get something posted.

Billy O’Malley

Nostalgia struck. I really miss my step-brother, Billy. He moved out to Vegas a while back and I haven’t seen him in years. Hey Billy! If you ever read this, drop me a line at greg {at} gregrushton(.)com! You’re gonna be an uncle again ;-)

He’s been in quite a few bands over the years. I loved to go see him when he was playing around the Boston area. Now, he’s out in Vegas doing his thing with Thirsty. Best of luck to you buddy!

    Steph’s Birthday

A good picture of the family at Steph’s birthday not too long ago. I’ve been accused of slacking on the blog lately, so this is a small attempt to please the extended family ;-)

    stefpetergreg.jpg

The pic (Stephanie, Peter, and me, Greg) was taken at Siro’s , in Marina Bay, Quincy. It’s a nice place to go, good portions, good food, etc., but a little pricey as most tend to be now. My sister Lauren took it on her credit-card-sized digital camera. I reduced the size about 1/3 of the original.

    Memories of England

Back in 1981, I went to France and England with a friend who had come over from France the year before. His name was Olivier Mothe (not sure if this is him or not…), and we went to England for two weeks in the summer. We started in London, then took a bus down to Bournemouth. I had no idea about the place, but we ended up having fun. I remembered seeing my name, ‘Rushton’, on a street sign

which gave me the first clue that maybe I was of English descent. I first learned about skinheads there too, but that’s another story ;-)

I’m glad to have my sister link back to me! I am sad that she’s sad about the lower GPA, but hey, we’ve all been there, right?!? I know I have. So, from one who’s been there, done that, my advice is, don’t worry, eat a grapefruit.

    Safe Minds

    Here’s a follow-up to today’s earlier NYT quote.

    SafeMinds

“April 2000 Parents and researchers release an 80+ page paper, entitled “Autism: a Unique Form of Mercury Poisoning.” The paper shows that every trait and abnormality found in autism has been known to arise from mercury exposure. The paper also notes that (a) autism was first described among children born in the 1930s, which is when thimerosal was first added to vaccines, and (b) a large increase in autism has occurred in the 1990s, and two thimerosal-containing vaccines were introduced in 1989 and 1991. This paper is sent to the CDC, the FDA, and the AAP with letters urging the immediate removal of thimerosal from vaccines and research into the role of mercury in autism.

    Autism

download 12 rounds dvdrip This is a scary thought that I’ve heard before. I think the anecdotal evidence of this will snowball out of control very soon. Especially since the new homeland security bill provides protection from litigation to large pharmaceutical companies on this very issue.

Whose Hands Are Dirty? “Fears developed a few years ago that the additive might have been causing dangerously elevated levels of mercury in infants, resulting in neurological impairment and, in some cases, autism.”

    Husband 1.0

My wife sent me this recently. I wonder if it’s a subtle hint…. hmmmm.

    Dear Tech Support

Last year I upgraded from Boyfriend 5.0 to Husband 1.0 and noticed a slow down in the overall performance, particularly in the flower and jewelry applications that had operated flawlessly under Boyfriend 5.0. In addition, Husband 1.0 uninstalled many other valuable programs, such as Romance 9.5 and Personal Attention 6.5, but installed undesirable programs such as NFL 5.0 and NBA 3.0 . And now Conversation 8.0 no longer runs and Housecleaning 2.6 simply crashes the system. I’ve tried running Nagging 5.3 to fix these problems, but to no avail.

    What can I do?

    Dear Desperate:

First keep in mind, Boyfriend 5.0 is an entertainment package, while Husband 1.0 is an operating system. Try to enter the command: C:/I THOUGHT YOU LOVED ME and download Tears 6.2 to install Guilt 3.0. If all works as designed, Husband 1.0 should then automatically run the applications Jewelry 2.0 and Flowers 3.5. But remember, overuse can cause Husband 1.0 to default to Grumpy Silence 2.5, Happy Hour 7.0, or Beer 6.1. Beer 6.1 is a very bad program that will create Snoring Loudly. WAV files.

    beneath still waters divx download

Whatever you do, DO NOT install Mother-in-law 1.0 or reinstall another Boyfriend program. These are not supported applications and will crash Husband 1.0.

In summary, Husband 1.0 is a great program, but it does have a limited memory and cannot learn new applications quickly. You might consider buying additional software to improve memory and performance. I personally recommend Hot Food 3.0 and Lingerie 7.7.
