Iraqi Chess

Well, Mr Bush just can’t play chess with the big boys. Tariq Aziz and Sadam have moved their queen into position, forcing the Bush administration’s knights into a losing position. Maybe he’ll get the point and realize his cowboy mentality is as outdated as he is? I wouldn’t bet on it.

[via the New York Times] U.N. Inspectors Can Return Unconditionally, Iraq Says “This is a tactical step by Iraq in hopes of avoiding strong U.N. Security Council action,” said Scott McClellan, the deputy White House spokesman. “As such, it is a tactic that will fail.” He added: “It is time for the Security Council to act.”

    Bush: I know! I’ll double dog dare him to let the inspectors back in. He’ll never give into a double-dog dare! Then I will attack with my mighty forces.

    Saddam: Ummm, Okay. The Inspectors can come back in.

    Bush: Damn! My clever plan has backfired on me like a ranch-hand who has eaten too much chili! Oh, well. I’ll attack anyway.
